Billabong takes Dana Point, California back in time this weekend at the 13th Annual Cosmic Creek Retro Surf Festival as they celebrate the good ol’ 1970’s and 80’s. The contest will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8th and 9th, with a free concert on Sunday afternoon featuring Donavon Frankenreiter right at Salt Creek.
Billabong makes sure to keep this contest interesting by randomly assigning boards to the competitors that were made 30 years ago! The competitors are in for plenty of retro designs such as twin fins, stingers and pintails. This year entries have been received by Tom Curren, Nathan Fletcher, Christian Fletcher, Pat O’Connell, Alex Knost, Tyler Warren, Creed McTaggert, Tanner Rozunko, Wade Goodall and Courtney Conlogue for the Pros and Legends division during the competition. These top competitors will have the chance to battle for the $1,000 winner-takes-all prize.
The activities that will go along with the competition include art projects and regular giveaways of event posters and awesome swag from the many Cosmic Creek Sponsors. Daphne’s and Chipotle will make an appearance as well as Nalu’s Grill for shave ice on Sunday.
The contest is open to the public. To enter the event, download an entry form at www.Billabong.com/cosmiccreek, and turn in signed entry forms with payment to Hobie Dana Point or Killer Dana surf shops. For entry questions call (949) 489-8380.
Don’t miss this unique event!
