The Kids of X Games Big Air Skateboarding
The kids of the X Games Big Air vert ramp are midget wizards…on skate boards! Their magic sticks take them flying over a huge jump – maybe switch and often inverted, and sometimes even backflipping before the huge hip boosts them clear through the clouds. If that scene isn’t in Harry Potter yet, it should be. These kids can fly higher that your favorite pro, and still be home in time before Mom finds out they lost another cell phone in the foam pit.
Before these kids even have the urge to smooch up with the thousands of groupie fans, Mitchie Brusco set the tone for the competitors in form of a gigantic 900 in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
Mitchie Brusco laid down the first 900 ever landed in competition, on Big Air at the X Games. He made it in practice last year, but now the stadium and world of action sports was there to see it. He has made X Games history and set the bar for this competition, at the age of 14. Maybe he will even get his driver’s permit next year.
Allexis Sablone started on the roof, kickflipping into the bank and jumping up the step up gap. The wall towered above the 5’4” lady champion. This MIT student will not have to worry about loans this year with big wins like this, taking home an X Games gold to be proud of.
