The Surf Channel soaked up good underground vibes at the Stimulus RAW art fest in Santa Ana, California earlier this year. Mind-blowing visual art, fantastic film, revolutionary fashion, mellow music, insane hair and makeup artistry, photography, models and performing arts filled the Yost theater along with classy attire and a cocktail bar. What can get better than that?
RAW is an independent arts organization that encourages up-and-coming artists of all types through various events and showcases. It was an awesome experience for the Surf Channel to get a sneak-peek of the next generation of art.
Some of the artwork that stood out was Brian Barden art, Kula Kai Jewelry, Lola Paige clothing and Gary Shepherd tattoos. Brian Barden’s art featured mellow skate and surf culture on skateboard decks and surfboards. On the fashion side, Kula Kai designer Cheryl Caveney featured her beautiful beach-themed jewelry of necklaces, bracelets and earrings. As for fashionable clothes, Lola Paige clothing showed off unique beach dresses made from vintage linesheets. When it comes to legit tattoo art, Meezy repped his street art skills on girls in bikinis.
Overall, the Stimulus RAW event was a hit and the surf industry will definitely be seeing these awesome artists in the near future.
