Suzanne Yoder started surfing when she was 27 years old. At the time, she was living a block from Tourmaline beach and was spending her days (and many nights) as a general surgery resident at University of California, San Diego. Further training in pediatric surgery took her away from the ocean but Suzanne continued to pursue surfing with annual international surf trips with her girlfriends and frequent trips back to San Diego. Ultimately, the draw of the ocean won and Suzanne has moved back to California. She lives in Venice with her dog Beau, works as a locums tenens pediatric surgeon and spends her free time doing international surgical service work and surfing. The sport has brought her lifelong friends, and some of her most grand adventures. She continues to find kinship in fellow surfers and has trips planned to El Salvador and Bali in the coming year.
